That's why Illovo in South Africa, through its Thriving African Community purpose is stimulating economic activity by empowering growers in rural communities to grow their own cane. We have made a positive impact by upskilling approximately 1 500 small-scale cane growers on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal and empowering them to thrive. In this way, they can uplift themselves to become better farmers and, uplift their local communities.
Illovo’s Thriving African Community purpose is all about making a positive impact in the communities where we operate. By partnering with these local growers, we have made everyday life a little better for those who need it most, as we strive towards a more equal and inclusive society.
By continually providing business support, networking opportunities and access to funding in order to enable the development of South African local sugar cane growers, we aim to generate further employment opportunities and greater market access for small-scale farmers in South Africa.
